9/1/2023 0 Comments 2004 suzuki katana 600 review![]() ![]() The lack of cruise control stands out a bit on a brand-new 2020 bike, and you’re on your own through the average speed camera zones. The test bike has the small optional windscreen so there’s a bit of wind protection, and the riding position is relaxed and comfy enough. On the motorway back to London from Suzuki’s Milton Keynes HQ, the Katana works well for an essentially-naked machine. It’s not got the silly peak power output of something like the Yamaha MT-10, and is certainly down on the bigger 1100cc lumps of the Ducati V4 Streetfighter or Aprilia Tuono 1100 – but all those bikes are much pricier beasties, aimed at a different sector. The GSX-R1000-derived engine is genuinely good – a strong, lusty lump with grunty, old-school power delivery and a lovely roar. I’ve spent a fair bit of time on the GSX-S, and had a long-term test bike for a season a few years back, so there’s plenty that’s familiar about the Katana. Why not also check out our own interpretation of the Suzuki Katana Concept bike in partnership with Kardesign back in 2016 and see how close we came. The engine, chassis and electronics are all straight from the GSX-S, with only the neu-Kat bodywork and tweaked riding position as the main differences. This modern take, parked up in front of me outside Suzuki HQ, is also based on an existing bike, this time the GSX-S1000 super naked. The original Kat was based on the Suzuki GSX1100 superbike, with a set of slick bodywork penned by a design house in Germany, Target Design. The similarities are more than skin-deep too. A fairly faithful remake of the original GSX1100 Katana from the 1980s, it’s aimed firmly at the nostalgia sector of the market – the guys and gals who lusted after the big air-cooled dinosaur from 1981. The obvious candidates are the Triumph modern classics – the Bonneville and Scrambler model ranges, plus the Royal Enfield 650 twins, BMW’s RnineT, Ducati’s Scrambler, Kawasaki’s Z900RS and Yamaha’s XSR900.Īnd this, the Suzuki Katana. People love the look and feel of a bike from the 1970s or 80s, but with the performance, reliability and capability of a modern machine. You’d need to have spent the past decade or so in a coma to have missed the popularity of modern retro bikes. 9/1/2023 0 Comments Baja fresh![]() ![]() The burrito hardly is a looker, served in a simple plastic basket, but taste-wise it doesn’t disappoint. I didn’t think I could handle putting the full-size burrito in my mouth, so I was happy for a more manageable portion. The burritos here are massive (literally, thicker than my forearm), and fortunately the set only gives us mini burritos. A burrito is a wheat tortilla rolled up and packed with fillings, often meat, rice, cheese, beans and others. Juicy chicken and a fresh ingredients make this a healthy and simple fix. I daresay they did an even better job than any crouton I’d ever eaten, which can be hard and a little too large.Īs makeshift as it may look, this mini burrito packs a punch. Another textural balance here, the sliced and fried tortilla chips, which were a superb addition. They used the same shrimp in their other dishes so if you’re a shrimp guy, a shrimp burrito might be to your liking as well. Still toasty and warm, they had a great char and carried the smell of the grill right to my plate. Here, the fire-grilled shrimp really stood out. ![]() A salad isn’t too hard to prepare – but it’s the combination of fresh ingredients and a great dressing that makes one salad better than the next. It’s a huge portion even for two, really generous. The baja ensalada with fire-grilled shrimp is a straightforward salad, with lettuce, tomatoes, shrimp and their house dressing which tastes unusually like Caesar. Your order comes with a free bowl of tortilla chips too, which are perfect to dip in their range of salsas at the salsa bar.īaja ensalada with fire-grilled shrimp – a nice way to start the meal, a fresh salad with well-cooked shrimp and a nice garnish of tortilla strips. The food here is quintessentially Mexican – Burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and fajitas rule the roost here, with a few salads and assorted side dishes thrown in to boot. And with Mexican restaurants being somewhat of a rarity in Singapore, Baja Fresh was my first ever Mexican experience. Mexican fare has always been something I’ve wanted to try, but while I can tell a burrito from a taco, I’m no expert. It’s very efficient, but with such a fast-food feel and restaurant prices, does Baja Fresh make the cut? You take a number, have a seat, and your food comes surprisingly quickly. Ordering is done at the counter, where a large menu showcases their food. Not exactly a restaurant you’d expect to front a hotel. At first glance, it reminds one of a fast food chain, with its brightly coloured walls, fast food counters and cramped yet efficient seating. Not the most glamorous of introductions, but that was how it was. Baja Fresh doesn’t set the most impressive of first impressions. And that was how I arrived at Baja Fresh Mexican Grill. It was sheer chance that brought me to the doorstep of Rendezvous Hotel in Dhoby Ghaut, and looking for a place to eat, my friends and I simply picked the nearest place that looked suitable. ![]() 9/1/2023 0 Comments Finding nemo darla s![]() ![]() The boy is presumably 8-10 years of age, has short brown hair, and wears a dark blue T-shirt, tan shorts, and brown sandals (implied, since his lower legs were cut off by the bottom of the screen in his and his mother's first appearance and by the coffee table in their last two). Sherman, Darla, Marlin, Dory, Nigel, and Gill while attempting to get Nemo away from Darla (the second time they appear, the boy is surprised, and the third the mother gets surprised as well), since the fish tank is located inside a rectangular hole in the wall separating the waiting room from the dental office. Sherman scoops Nemo out of the tank and the second and third times where they are sitting on a couch facing the fish tank where they notice the commotion between Dr. This boy and mother can be seen in the waiting room three times near the end of the film during Darla's checkup: The first time when the Tank Gang mistake them for Darla resulting in a "false alarm" after mocking the AquaScum 2003 for ruining their escape plan, but before Dr. Tank Gang: " DARLA!" The drain squirts water in her face as she breaks it. After Gill catapults Nemo into the air, Darla tries to grab him, but he lands in the spit sink and is swallowed into the drain leading to the ocean. Gill then fires himself out of the tank and lands in her hair, causing her to drop Nemo bursting his bag. In the scene where Darla is about to take Nemo from her uncle, Nemo plays dead, but Darla thinks he is just sleeping and starts shaking the bag. The last fish she received, Chuckles, was killed by her because she wouldn't stop shaking the bag Chuckles was in. Gill and the other fishes in Sherman's fish tank describe Darla as a fish killer and that Nemo is supposed to be her new pet fish. She is antagonistic through evil and malicious intent and the overexcitement of kidnapping Nemo and getting him as a pet, which ironically has frequently resulted in her killing him. Darla is the niece of Philip Sherman, a dentist. ![]() |
